Mailgun is a service that lets you send and receive email programmatically. You can do so with custom domains and also do advanced things like limit all your email to come pre-purchased IPs etc when you want to improve your sender scores etc.
Emails can be sent via SMTP and a REST API, similarly, you can receive emails via webhooks. Mailgun also has advanced functionality to track emails tie send and received ones to each other etc.
