Question

Have you used Zoom’s team chat to replace Slack?

The Information recently announced that Zoom is investing in more chat features to take on Slack and focus more on its text chat features in addition to it’s more well-known video calls.

Zoom already has text chat features built in but ... has your team used them, aside from sending text messages during video calls? Have you managed to move your team to using Zoom for all your communications?

Glad you asked! We've been using it for about a year now by choice. Away from Slack and any others. Its a nice and calm environment plus they have the option to send voice notes which are super useful! And the free plan is even more generous than Slack too, as there are no limitations!

That's neat to hear, thanks for sharing! What got you to try it out in the first place?

Didn't realize that on voice notes. I use those all the time in iMessage and LINE for personal chat, so that would be nice to have in team chat.

Does Zoom's chat have reactions and threaded replies?

Oh yeah, reactions and replies are even better than Slack. The entire app is way faster too. We initially tried it when we used their phone, so we loved the idea of having all communication in a single app!

We have since moved to a better phone system that integrates with HubSpot, so turns out we now mostly use it just for chat!

Ive been vouching it for clients too.

So team chat made Zoom more sticky for your team—that's a win for them, for sure!
