Looking for a way to quickly build reports from all the data that comes into Segment—is there any way to do that?
Hey, Segment co-founder here. Depending on what you're looking for, our customers handle typically handle this one of two ways.
If you just want out-of-the-box reporting, connecting your Segment data to Mixpanel or Amplitude should give you best-in-class product analytics.
If you're looking to do something a little more custom (which most startups are when they hit scale), I'd recommend loading data into Postgres or Bigquery, and then running one of Looker, Mode, or PopSQL on top of it!
If you've already got a Segment integration, route that data to a warehouse asap.
As @calvinfo mentioned, they've got great support (and if you start it in a warehouse now, it will help future-proof for when you get bigger): https://segment.com/product/warehouses/
We like Metabase's free/self-hosted version, but we've looked at Mode (has a free tier) and Periscope.
Metabase has some of the best free query generation if your data is cleanly organized, but it's really when you start sending your information to something like Amplitude that things get fun.
