Question

How do you share your screen in Slack?

Does Slack include a screen sharing tool, and if so, how do you use it?

Start a Slack video call, then click the screen button

Share screen in Slack

Slack includes a slightly hidden way to share your screen: Inside Slack's video calls. Click the phone icon in any Slack channel or direct message conversation to start a call—which in Slack, calls are audio-only by default, with a camera button to click to start a video call. To share your screen, click the screen icon in the middle of the set of buttons.

On Macs, you may first have to allow Slack to record your screen; follow the instructions in the Slack popup to do that.

Then, Slack will share your entire screen with your team. A small toolbar will show overlaid on your screen while the screencast is ongoing. Click the single pencil icon to turn on a pen you can use to markup your screen, or click the multiple pencil icon to let others markup your screen. You can't let others control your screen, but at least that can help simplify giving feedback during a call.

Tip: Do note, though, that Slack shares your entire screen, so be sure to only have things open that you want to share with your team when you start sharing your screen in Slack.

In Slack, Click the Share button in the bottom left of your screen to share. A popup will appear, click on what you'd like to share. In Chrome, select either your Entire Screen, an Application Window, or a Chrome tab. Click the Share button in the popup. Other collaboration tools apart from Slack which one can use are Microsoft Teams, Webex, R-HUB web conferencing servers etc.
