Just joined Capiche, or finally jumping into the conversations after watching from the sidelines for a while? We’re glad you’re here!
And we'd love to learn a bit more about you.
What are you working on this month? What new tech skills are you trying to learn? What's the best new thing you've discovered recently?
Then jump back to our June Meet the Community discussion to meet other new members in the community!.
Hey Capiche people, as a design professional, i started leading the digital experience team in a think/tank NGO 6 months ago after a decade of consultancy.
Recently moved the design team to Figma, previously i worked heavily on Adobe tools and Sketch for interface projects, but Figma is such a leapfrog for collaborative working, it totally changed the culture of the team overnight. Bunch of lone wolves are becoming a team now also rest of the bigger team is very easily attached to the process and it is great to lead the way for the culture change.
On the other hand, i am introducing to the wider team some new tools or platforms like gitbook, Airtable and Notion. But it is not easy to be sure if they are the right platforms to enable the organisation. Adoption is happening but very slow.
Looking forward to discuss challenges and observations with the community here.
Hi I'm Sari. I invest in early stage startups.
Love this community and happy to be here.
Welcome, Sari!
Hi all ,
I'm Avi, from Israel. I'm an MA student in Tel-Aviv Uni's School of Education. I'm interested in how people learn and currently I'm checking knowledge management tools such as Roam and Notion.
Hey @Avi, glad you’re here! Are you finding Notion or Roam better for your work so far?
Thank you - glad to be here too. Still evaluating...
Hi, I'm Paul and I love software stacks. I feel this is such an underestimated part of running a SaaS business!
Hey @PaulyB, glad to have you here! What are some of your favorite software stacks so far? What industry are you in? You should start a new discussion about stacks for it!
Then, if you haven’t looked through them already, check out some of the discussions about favorite software stacks so far on Capiche:
Hi everyone. I'm Federico, from Argentina.
I'm a software project manager. For the last year I've been learning python, and during the lockdown, working on a personal dashboard for Todoist that I hope to show you soon.
I got a little bit tired of project management and I found that programming resonates with my creative side that inspired me to start this career more than 20 years ago.
So, I found Capiche reading about new tools to make my "relearning" journey more productive and enjoyable.
Happy to join this community!
Hey @fscheu, we’re happy you’re here! Would love to see your Todoist dashboard when it’s ready to show! Are you planning on releasing it as an app?
Yes, it will be a web app. I hope that fill some gaps about personal productivity insights and support a weekly review process.
Nice, best of luck on shipping!
Hi! I didn't forget you! ;-) It looks like I'm very close to launch! check it out at www.todolytics.com
Hi Everyone.
Am now dabbling in NoCode tools and have taken a special liking to Notion, Carrd, AirTable, DashDash and Parabola. Have been an entrepreneur for over 30 years and now mentor and work closely with innovative startup founders. Recently made a site called Notion Videos to mine no code videos from companies and communities. Looking forward to sharing and learning from all of you here.
Welcome aboard @harsha99! Curating videos about Notion is a great idea. What’d you use to build that site?
Have used carrd.co, airtable.com, dashdash.com and parabolo.io.
Hey! I have worked in film on the creative and financing side the last decade+ but decided to change it up in 2020. Been wanting to get into SaaS and been sitting on the sidelines the whole time. The last few months I have been preparing to launching a digital agency that offer both DIY and custom web/funnel/e-com sites to learn the ropes. Excited to join the community here.
Hey @kevinhui, great to have you here, and sounds like you’re in the right place to learn about SaaS together! What films did you work on, if you can say?
Best of luck with getting your agency off the ground!
Hey @maguay, thanks. This community is looking great.
I mostly worked on China-US collaborative productions. More "well-known" ones are The Great Wall and Pacific Rim 2. Some lesser know but did well in China were Hollywood Adventures, Skyfire and the upcoming animation, Wish Dragon :).
Oh cool, that's a fascinating niche. Wish Dragon looks neat; will keep an eye out for its release.
Hi, Nathan here. I've been building out a print mail platform & API for e-commerce brands at heypoplar.com. From a software perspective we've recently shifted from Sketch to Figma (shocker I know) but the more under the radar app we've been really into is Tandem for video chat. I think its ability to start conversations quickly has improved informal team communication as we've gone remote.
Hey @nathanstanton! API-powered print mail sounds cool! What unique things does Poplar offer? And what got you to pick Tandem—looks like a neat choice!
When I was in house at ecom/DTC companies I generally had 3 questions about a marketing channel: how much incremental lift is this going to have given my existing channels (email, FB, Google, Podcasts etc...), how much time is it going to take to get this channel working/optimized and does it have enough scale to warrant the effort. We try to solve those by making it an easy to use platform for any digital marketer not just someone technical. You can upload artwork or manually mail audience lists and we built a 1 click integration with shopify and dozens of other marketing automation and ecommerce backends so we can live alongside your existing retention/prospecting workflows. We also have built in conversion reporting with randomized control groups so you can understand incremental lift and flexible templating logic so you can insert a dynamic offer expiration date or call out a local store address into the creative when the recipient is within a certain distance of the store.
Tandem I love because it prompts much faster conversations, you can sorta "tap someone on the shoulder" or all hop in a room together as if you were in the same office without having to scramble to create a room, invite or copy links into slack.
Making direct mail fast and easy as a digital campaign would be key I'd think!
Tandem's collaboration tools look very cool. Do the shared cursors work out well in your usage?
I haven't done a ton of screen sharing on it with work folks but it seemed to work as expected. For collaborative screenshare I mostly use the built in MacOS app thats a bit of a hidden gem. I use it to take over my grandpas computer any time he runs into issues. From my end I can type in his appleID, he gets a notification to request access to take over, when he accepts. it initiates a voice call and joint use of the mouse and keyboard so we can work through it together. Apple needs to make their visual accessibility better, they have decent support for fully blind users but for only visually impaired folks the high contrast and text size increase does not work well at all.
@nathanstanton Poplar looks really cool. Has direct mail seen an uptick during the pandemic?
It's a bit category specific, I think given uncertainty there was some retail category pullback in April but things have recovered. Travel and real estate is still way down though on the acquisition side. The USPS posts monthly trends on category volumes. For us a lot of it is automated retargeting and retention cross sell/upsell, think of all the email and digital campaigns ecom/DTC brands run and those have such a high incremental ROAS or CAC that they are super sticky.
makes sense! Such an interesting space.
Hey Capiche friends, nice to meet you! By day, I'm CMO of Crowdstack (a SaaS community platform)...by night I'm a chaser of shiny objects. I'm constantly pruning and shaping my own tech stack like a beautiful bonsai, signing up for fresh tools and kicking oldies to the curb. I love the vibe of this community, and hope to do a lot of learning and some helping where I can too.
Hey @rhogroupee, glad to have you here! Chasing shiny apps is half of what brings this community together! What are your favorite new software you've been using lately?
We just started using Front for shared email with commenting, and I'm loving it so far. Also consider Hunter.io a secret weapon for finding out email addresses. Late to the party a bit, but also experimenting with Airtable quite a bit (databases for dummies like me).
Welcome @rhogroupee! Crowdstack looks awesome. Definitely lots of Airtable enthusiasts on Capiche. What are you using it for so far?
Thanks! I am using Airtable for my marketing strategic planning, tactics and quarterly tracking. I like being able to share it with the team as a living document.
Makes sense! I've still never stuck with it in any huge way but it's a really impressive product.
Hi everyone 👋
I’m Apoorva. Recently quit my job and started Rattle (gorattle.com).
As an ex-frustrated user of Salesforce myself (I know there are quite a few of us), I decided to build a product that lets users update Salesforce directly from Slack.
Excited to be here and looking forward to sharing things I know & learning from all amazing people in this community!
Hey @APV, welcome to the community, and congrats on starting something new! Very interesting to be building a better Salesforce Slack integration instead of trying to reinvent the CRM. What are some of your favorite tools you're using to help build Rattle?
We have been using Whimsical for our prototypes and I got a hang of the tool pretty quickly. Also, Webflow is something that came in super handy for a dummy like me and absolutely loved it.
At this point, we’ve so many moving parts that every few days we end up finding something new to suit our needs.
Nice! Webflow is great for rapid iteration like that.
Hello, good people of Capiche! 👋🏼
I'm Sanket, and I'm the founder of DeepSource, which is an automated code review tool that helps developers find and fix issues in their code. We help some of the world's best teams make sure they're always shipping good code, and saving a ton of time which is wasted during manual code reviews. I also invest in early-stage startups that use automation to help teams work better (most recently, Spiti).
I'm interested in product design in general and developer tools in particular. You can talk to me regarding anything product, engineering, or company building.
Happy to be here! 🙌🏼
@sanketsaurav Welcome, excited you're here! Automated code review is a huge area to add value to dev teams—and Spiti looks fascinating. Just joined the waitlist; curious to see what they build.
Got any new product design tools you're excited about right now?
Hey all I’m a design leader at a tech company in NYC! I love to geek out on software and SaaS so I’m thrilled to be here!
Hey @christox, glad to have you here! Is your team using Figma?
Hi all, I help build startups in NYC. I'm always interested in improving business and personal software stacks. Glad to be here.
Hey @imskyco, welcome! What are some of your current favorite software stacks?
Looking for a better way to plan remote meetings across time zones, and keep up with events. What software is doing that best today?
Welcome! We’re big fans of Figma here. :)
