I live off of this shortcut. I hate having to remember where all of the emojis are, so I just type in the short cut, type in the search field and BAM! Ready to rock 🤙

I've been using this shortcut for several years now and I couldn't work without it to insert an emoji in Slack or Notion. Talking about emojis this makes me think about Github who recently updated their notifications page (https://ibb.co/HnF6B8g) with native emojis. If I can recall well, this seems to be the first SaaS to use native emojis in its UI.

That's super cool to see.

Notion also has something similar for page names; if you add an icon to your page, it shows in the sidebar. Though in Notion you can use emoji or upload your own image.

I understand what you mean @maguay however I think Github's and Notion's case are different. Mainly because customization is one of Notion's core value. Unlike Github, Notion wants their users to feel at home in the space they create in the product : hence the emoji 😉

Ahh gottcha that makes sense! Being a built-in UI element is fascinating.

Ever seen the icon typefaces like FontAwesome and Pictos (an older one)? Always thought those were a fascinating solution for UI icons, almost as a more unique emoji.

Alternatively, you can use the recently launched tool Glyphfinder. It has much better search and can be set to a global hotkey of your choice...

That looks super nice—the way it has everything organized would make it much easier to discover symbols.
