What are software "hacks" or workarounds you have used with your current tech when your company didn't have the ideal software for what you need to do?

What are ways have repurposed free tools or software your company already had on-hand to get the job done without the best-in-class tool?

As an example: at a prior job, my company was testing out offering agency-style social media publishing team didn't have access to digital asset management tools so the team did workarounds like using filling the info section of a Google Photo image with tags or using Imgur to manage GIFs.
