Question

What is the best notes app for teams?

How does your team share notes, and what app did you settle on?

Google Docs

There are sexier tools. And tools designed for the sole purpose of note-taking. Many of them are good - but they require all the contributors to have to tool or app. Pretty much everyone has a Google account and Docs is free. Their collaboration features are incomparable. The ability to see who changed a value in a Google Sheet is next-level impressive (and then to roll it back if you want).

Curious, do you have any tricks to organize notes in Google Docs? That always seems to be my struggle, trying to find stuff that should be somewhere but never seems to turn up when it's all in different docs.

That's a good question! Of course, the simple option is to organise the files (notes) in Google Drive folders, but often, when you click on a link, the "context" of the folders is missing. What about creating a single master doc, which contains all the links to the other docs?

Yeah, good idea. An index doc would just take a bit of work to maintain, but would likely be worth it!

Gitbook

Not exactly for notes but for important stuff that is to be shared with amongst various teams, we use Gitbook.

Does this let you edit plain text files and commit them with Git, while still having that nice of an interface? If so, that would be magical!

It absolute does! In fact, I honestly think that Notion adopted the block system from Gitbook.
