Quick thoughts on considerations:
You can set the target Export Location to a Dropbox folder and that would achieve something close to what you want. You'd have to find another way to get the link from Dropbox though.
Connect.club is a pretty slick take on virtual spatial networking.

This takes the other approach, but with a failsafe. So basically, you set your default preferences, and it'll always record and convert that way.

I was a big fan of Bohemian Coding's Fontcase and was saddened when it was shutdown. haven't found a viable replacement although I've attempted to use FontBase but it's just clunky and not well…
Looks like a contender against Slack — curiously designed by the same folks who designed the first version of Slack!
I've always found that I hit an upper limit with Basecamp's products. You really to drink the Koolaid or join their religion to be productive in their universe.
Of course I'd like to try it, but I'm…
Just to follow-up — it appears that the issue may have been that he was connecting to an underpowered USB port! The drive mounted just fine when he connected it to his more recent laptop!
Tweaks to features
